HR Professionals play a 'crucial' role

HR Professionals play a 'crucial' role

in bridging the gap between education and work says Peter Cheese Chief Executive of the CIPD as he launches a new partnership between CIPD and the Careers and Enterprise Company.

The aim is to recruit 500 senior HR professionals to work with schools and help equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in a fast-moving labour market.

Announcing the partnership, Peter Cheese, said:

“Far too often we hear about young people who leave school unprepared for the challenges of working life or are unaware of the opportunities. We know that one way to overcome these barriers, and help bridge the gap between education and work, is to ensure that young people receive good quality and sustained careers education, information and guidance throughout their time at school. By engaging with employers, to help school leaders understand the local labour market and make full use of the initiatives and support available to them, the Careers and Enterprise Company are putting in place a critical mechanism that will help future generations fulfil their potential.“

This is hugely important to us as a training provider as for a long time DPG have championed career paths in both HR and L&D specific roles. Our qualification programmes can support those who wish to progress in to roles within HR and support people throughout their careers. There is however a gap in careers advice and support from school and higher education in to HR as a valid career path as well as helping school leaver to prepare for the world of work. HR professionals can really help here with their experience and knowledge.

We welcome this news and support the objectives of the partnership. You can read more about the partnership below
