My HR Journey

Firstly so glad my course started on the 29th October and not the 30th!  All trains were cancelled on the morning of the 30th between Didcot and Reading due to an incident on the line.  So, leaving with plenty of time on my side at 06:40am on the 29th October, I arrived at DeVere West One in good time not having a clue what to expect.

On walking into the meeting room it was a lovely surprise to see a colourful array of toys and sweets across the table, certainly reduced the stress levels.  The day was both fun and informative with lots of active participation which suits my learning style down to the ground.

Now its the 1st November and I have just spent the first 3 hours of my study allocation of 8 hours this week on my participant pack.  In those 3 hours I have learnt more about the HR profession map which is fascinating by the way, and managed to complete the first 3 exercises!  Not sure if thats a good thing or not. However, I still have another 23 days before the deadline so I will continue to work steadily through the pack.

I am sure once the ole grey cells have been dusted off and start working more efficiently I may be able to speed up a little.

  • Hi Jennifer,

Looks like a lucky escape and glad you got there on time and in one piece. The need to cater for everyone is paramount for us as we recognise that some people have not studied since school, college or university so we aim to provide a unique experience and this should be reflected in our facilitation techniques, room set up and of course the support you receive in between workshops as well.

Thanks so much for sharing the start of your journey and remember slow and steady or little and often is the most effective way of making progress. Shout out if you need any assistance and of course you can see there are many other members of this community going through the same thing and I hope more people share the journey they are on.

I hope this is the first of many blogs throughout your programme :-)
