NLP- trend for HR and Business - how to appreciate your learning style!

Hello everyone, welcome to my blog on an aspect of my hypnotherapy background which I wanted to expand today which I hope gives you an insight into a hot trend for human resources and business communication as a whole known as NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). You may know of this term already, if so then maybe you want to check out the link for a fun questionnaire to find out your individual study learning style.

NLP

For those you do not know NLP as a quick summary to Neuro-Linguistic Programming: it suggests that some people veer towards preferring visual, auditory or kinaesthetic (tactile type) behaviours to take and digest information and communicate back important in all industries.

NLP divulges into how we interpret the world around us in order to gain experiences everyday through our senses. It is a very raw psychological ideology of how we interpret all the everyday stimuli around us which we take for granted.

The neuro component: linking to brain interpretation, linguistics – to language including body language and the programming linked to patterns in behaviour.

I came across this subject during my hypnotherapy training and to be honest I went in expecting to find the suggestions to be over-simplistic categorising of people who are individual in their approach to making choices. Over time I have realised rather than fight the idea that we all fit certain categories maybe there is a bit a value of understanding whether some not all people have a bias in learning information.

For example: I know I think of the image of words in my head to learn and often you the phrase which does enter into my language with my tendency to say “I see” rather than “I hear what you are saying.”and the diagram  below shows how some people move their eyes when using the different visual, auditory and kinesthetic parts of their mind.

What is your preferred "Learning Style".

Here in the link below is a good little example if you want to see what you are deemed as yourself in terms of improving your studying.

So in summary,  although I still stand that we as humans do not fit certain criterion boxes and am grateful of it, maybe having a few moments to consider people’s preferences right down to how they learn information and even where their eyes tend to wonder to!!!  can make you appreciate and improve business interpersonal skills and certainly HR at every level which always involve people, language and communication.

Thanks
