So this is a BLOG!

After trying my best not to enter into the world of Facebook as why do I need to know what someone is having for breakfast OR how many people LIKED something random? I was then tasked with writing a Blog as part of my course (only attended first workshop so far) so there I was thinking how and why would I do that? However after reading the Blog about working in pyjamas I was inspired to actually do it! So if nothing else comes out of this course (although I'm sure it will) maybe I will bring myself into the 21st century and use technology/social media as part of my day to day job and HR.  You won't get me however saying what I did last Sunday and posting a picture of my cat!  I do feel a little better for also reading some of the other Blogs as I thought I was the only one thinking I am a bit lost with all of this studying and writing, am definitely more of a pragmitist.

  • Great blog Shelby. I felt exactly the same when I was writing my first blog too. Now I have to stop myself from writing all sorts of work experiences on here!! I too feel a bit lost having been away from study for a while, but we'll all get there in the end. Good luck with your course.

  • Thanks for sharing Shelby and well done for putting the virtual pen to paper. It is daunting the first time you do anything different or put yourself 'out there'  but rest assured you are not the only one who is thinking the things you are thinking.

It takes guts to do what you've done and I understand that to begin with the study, the writing, the theory and then a social community platform to boot takes some getting used to.

The aim of the programme is to make you a more effective practitioner and to develop key skills and behaviours to be even more of a success in a HR role and through participating in community discussions, blogs and chats, I hope that you see the the value in what social media can bring to you personally and professionally.

You've started down a road and who knows where it will end, who you will connect with and what you will learn along the way. Just keep sharing and being open and I hope you continue to share your journey with us AND there are no 'what you've had for tea' updates or cat photos in sight ;-)

Here is another blog you might find interesting as well - let me know what you think and thanks again for sharing your first blog.
