Consulting with Trade Unions

Hi JaneApologies I am posting in a new thread as I can't currently reply to your post!So the first thing I would look at is are the policies which you wish to change contractual or non-contractual? Assuming that TUs are involved they may form part of a Collective Agreement in which case they will be contractual and I would consult on the basis of harmonising policies with the TUs.If the policies are non-contractual in the past at the point of transfer and as part of measures when consulting with staff I have indicated that although employees transfer on their current ts and cs they will operate under the transferee's policies and procedures. That said as a matter of good employee relations I would still consult anyway but eventually make it a clear that consultation is a with a view to reaching agreement and if you don't reach agreement you will implement. If you tied in the introduction of the new policy with some joint line manager and TU training I think this would also help implementation and working under the new policies for consistency etc.I hope this helpsSarah
