Hello,
This is quite a specific question but does anyone have any experience with CQC inspections at hospitals and what they looked for in HR?
Our inspection date is looming and I was wondering what I should expect? We are a relatively new team and so have minimal experience with CQC.
Any advice or stories would be great.
Thanks,
Megan

I don't work for a Hospital but we recently had a CQC inspection so thought i'd share my experience.
The organisation I work for provides support to people with disabilities so i would assume the inspectors would be looking for similar if not the same things. The inspector was specifically looking for:
Application form
2 References
Valid DBS check
Proof of ID / Right to work documents (at least one must have their address on)
Mandatory training up to date (and evidence of this e.g certificates)
% of staff completed NVQ in health and social care
Any other training / development opportunities offered
Our recruitment process
She said she wasn't looking for absolute perfection but wanted to see that we had a solid vetting process, were able to track staff training and identify and resolve any issues in a reasonable timeframe.
It was my first inspection, and all happened in a bit of a blur so i've just messaged my colleague to see if she remembers anything else that the inspector was specifically looking for. I'll post anything else she comes up with as soon as possible.
Good luck :)
Heidi
Thanks Heidi, that's really useful and gives us some idea of what to expect!
Hi Megan
Sorry I have not had any experience of this, the only thing I recall from another colleague was the CQC was interested in the reference processes undertaken for staff.
I suspect they will also want to see training records and qualifications and such like, in addition perhaps details of working hours and shift patterns, to ensure compliance with Working Time Regulations. Finally I think they will probably be interested in the onboarding process in terms of the induction undertaken for new starters, and rigour within the recruitment and selection processes.
Can anyone else out there in the Community help?
All the best
Sarah
