Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to do an employee engagement survey with our staff and need some guidance; I'm happy about what questions to ask and the format, etc. but what I'm not sure about is how to accurately analyse the results in order to define our level of overall engagement, or not as the case may be.  Ultimately, I want to be able to determine what percentage of our staff are engaged, not engaged or actively disengaged.

There's loads of stuff out there about Gallup Q12 and other similar surveys, but I can't anything about how the responses are interpreted to determine the level of engagement.

The last survey we did (a while ago!) only gave results against each question or area, not on an overall level so this is all new!

Any thoughts or suggestions from people who have come up against the same thing?

Many thanks in advance!

Becky

  • Hi Becky

Yes it can be a bit of a minefield in the past at smaller organisations I have worked out we have used SurveyMonkey and paid for some of the additional features that you can get as part of upgrading to the free service to analyse the results.

I hope this helps! Regards Sarah
    • Thanks, Sarah.  We currently use SurveyMonkey for other things so I was going to use it also for this survey.  I think we have a package which analyses results but I'm not clear what the definitions are that are used specific to engagement levels (i.e. what overall response would deem an employee to be either engaged or disengaged).

      Many thanks

  • Hello there Becky, I hope you are well. This is very interesting, thank you very much for prompting some self-questioning, as it were. Please excuse my boldness in advance, but I am wondering if you could possibly advise me of the last survey you used. Thank you in advance. Cheers, Emma-Jane.

    • Hi Emma-Jane,

The last survey was one we put together in-house, we didn't use an external supplier.  Will be doing the same again this time, hence the need to try and work out how to analyse the results! :)

      Many thanks
