HR Software

Hi everyone,

Does anyone use HR specific software? At the moment, we have spreadsheets for everything (e.g. absences, contact details, personal file, appraisals) and would like to consolidate all the information into a central place.

A contact of mine has recommended Bamboo HR. Has anyone used this program? If yes, is it any good? Are there other ones you could suggest? Any leads would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sonny

  • Thanks for all your replies everyone. Your comments have provided food for thought and have also requested test trials with People HR and SimplyPersonnel.

I work for a boutique marketing consultancy with 30 employees and growing! We don't need all the bells and whistles but it does need to be able to do the basics well and allow for growth.

  • Hi Sonny,

We were exactly the same as you last year (spreadsheets for everything!) and with 4 companies in our group it was a nightmare as everything was x4!

Earlier this year we purchased the Personnel and Self-Service modules of SimplyPersonnel (a Wolters Kluwer company).  It had a few niggles at the beginning (although the implementation and data transfer went smoothly), but seems to be OK now and is 100% times better than what we had!!  I've only had limited experience of other packages; SimplyPersonnel certainly isn't the best, but it was the best we could get with our budget - relatively affordable by comparison to some of the big names.

They do have other modules available as well (Training, Recruitment, etc.) at an extra cost.

Never heard of Bamboo HR so no comment.  The only other one I seem to see advertised all the time is Cascade HR, but have never really come across anyone who actually uses it so no idea what it's like.

    Many thanks

    Becky

  • Hi Sonny

Thanks for the post and hlad to see the community is helping you. Could you provide some information about what type and size your organisation is?

    All the best

  • HI Sonny,

I have been in the process of identifying a new e-recruitment portal for my organisation. I used a site called Gartner Magic Quadrant its a US based research and advisory service for IT services.  it provides you with the names of the top IT providers for any software your looking for and  also gives you customer reviews on how that provider and its product has performed for them.

I have had four demos from  providers that I had  sourced from this site, two of which are potentials.

    Good Luck in your search.

    thanks

    Joanne

  • Hi Sonny, we are currently going through exactly the same process as you so whilst I cannot recommend any specific system I would say that you need to determine exactly what you require from a system which may not be the same as your contact's organisation.  Consider if you require more than the basic functionality you have listed above, for example do you need self serve for holidays and expenses, a training module, payroll, recruitment etc. Consider where the system will be located e.g. the cloud or your own servers and if you require mobile or tablet functionality.  Good luck with your search.

    Pete
