Hi
I'm in need of some advice/opinions on which way to turn?
In 2015 I left a role within a Regional HR due to medical reasons. I took a few months off and then went back into part-time HR work, however, the two roles were not challenging enough and didn't offer the variety "on-hands" I was use to in a role. I finished in April 2016 and have not worked since within HR as I decided to start up my own business within the pet industry.
At the moment I am considering going back into HR but feel totally unsure how employers would look at my CV with the change of career? and wonder if it would be beneficial for me to look at studying CIPD Level 5, whilst dusting off a few off the old study books to get back on track. I'm still an Assoc Member and keep up-to-date with new changes in law etc.
Any thoughts or advice would really be appreciated.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Sue
There has been a post flying around for a little while that has some great ideas and resources about getting a role in HR.
I think some of this is relevant to your situation

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Sue
Thank you for the post, I think in these circumstances you always think what you would do?
In this instance I would be inclined to go and do some research with HR recruiters to try and establish what the market is looking like in your area and also longer term if there are any trends developing. Ask them does an employer differentiate between Level 3, 5 and 7?
In terms of the change in your career I think that is down to how you position it and also the employer's attitude to change and drive. It take a lot to set up your own business and involves developing new skills you never thought possible, so hopefully some (more enlightened) employers will recognise this. It also takes a alot to walk away from a well paid job and start your own business and even though it may not have worked you will be in the company of those who tried.
Good luck If I can help in any way do let me know.
Kind regards
Sarah
Hi Sarah
Thank you for the reply.
I have been in contact with a few agencies, however to no avail, no response to emails or return of calls which isn't too promising. I may post on LinkedIn to hopefully gain some thoughts/feedback.
Thanks
Sue
No problem Sue you just need to find the right recruiters some of them can be innundated with applicants. Where are you based as I know a good HR recruiter locally who I could put you in touch with?
Or register for one of their networking events and get along to one of those and have a chat with them.
Finally if you are a CIPD member try the local branch there will always be people there who will help.

Thanks Sarah.
Yes I am a CIPD member, so will check their website for further advice and networking.
I live in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
Really appreciate your time and advice.
Thanks
Sue
OK no problem you are in my branch! I am in Derby so just down the road.
Have you tried AshleyKate HR they are a friendly recruiter. I know both the owners although not sure if they will remember me but feel free to mention my name and that I suggested you speak with them.
How about we meet up at the next branch event and I can see if I can put you on touch with anyone?
All the best Sarah
Hi Sarah
I'll get in touch with Ashley Kate once I begin Level 5 study.
I did post on LinkedIn which I had views but unfortunately no comments, which I find disappointing.
Sounds great meeting up at the next branch event.
Once again...thank you.
Regards
Sue
