    Yes we use these for clients and yes there can be lots of issues.  Most employers don't realise that individuals on zero hours contracts can be either employees or workers and there are different employment right implications for each.   This can be a problem especially where there are gaps between the periods of work e.g. University students who only work during holiday periods.

    As you probably already know irrespective of which type of engagement you go down the route of both the ET and HMRC will look at behind the agreement / contract and consider the reality of the working relationship i.e what actually happens in practice.
