Our Supervisors have always been paid the same rate regardless of age. Then a District Manager came up with the idea that U21s should not be paid the same as O21 Supervisors. Whilst we've all complained that the job is the same regardless of age and with the added responsibilities around running teams, handling large volumes of cash and responsible for internal audits on their shifts I believe we're right. Can anyone out there confirm what they pay U21 supervisors with huge accountabilities ie. same as O21s. Thanks Nic

Hi Nic
In all the larger companies I have worked for it is the role that indicated pay rate and not the age of the individual and I think that is right and fair. I have been in that specific situation and I would not have considered the role where I was not being paid the same as others.

HI Ian
Yep - thought as much. I will put on my collaborative head; analyse the facts and offer the disadvantages and advantages to get our SNR Mngrs to change their minds :-), Thanks Nic
Hi Nic
Interesting what is the District Manager's rationale for paying less? is it due to the NMW rates, are the employees paid the NMW or above it?
At EON we had a pay and grading structure which was based as you say on the role (and this also included shift workers), the employee's age was irrelevant. The roles did pay more than the NMW.
