CIPD Learning and Development show is next week on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th May at Olympia, London. The CIPD Learning and Development show brings together over 3,500 L&D professionals and 150+ leading industry experts under one roof. Whether or not you’re attending the event, there are a variety of ways to get involved.
Here’s our five ways to get the most out of this year’s CIPD Learning and Development show.
Think about what you’re working on right now, the projects you’re involved in and the challenges of L&D in your organisation. How can the content of the event support you with these? It’s easy to go to or follow these events without any thought of what you’re hoping to get. There’s some mileage in being open minded and receptive to what’s there but forming an idea of what you’re hoping to get does make a difference. Even if you're following afar, just looking at what's there and what's being covered will give you an idea of what the hot topics are right now and what's out there that may support you.
There are already lots of pre-event resources out there. Here’s a few to get you started.

Download the CIPD Learning and Development show app. If you are physically attending it’s a great way of submersing yourself in the event and if you're following remotely a great way of not missing out. Download the app here.
You’ll find lots of sharing going on during and after the event. There's a guide on how to follow events from your desk and on the go on the DPG Community. The hashtag for this event is #CIPDLDShow and the guide is here.
- On Twitter, follow @CIPD and search for #CIPDLDShow
- On Facebook, like the CIPD page
- On Linked In, join the CIPD Conferences and Exhibitions Group
After the event, make sure you keep following what's going on. Post-event there will still be lots of sharing happening. If you find useful contacts by attending the event or remotely, make sure you stay in touch with those valuable connections. But most importantly, take action. It's all too easy to go back to business as usual and lose what you've learned. Make a plan to take what you've learned and turn it into real action that will benefit yourself and your organisation.
And if all that isn't enough, make sure you check out the LnD Connect event that's happening after day 1, just across the road, in the pub. Check out the details:

The App was amazing last year - I couldnt live without it! I was sending notes and tips I learnt direct to the office while I was actually in the seminars, really helpful to make sure I didnt forget things.
See you there again? Im there both days again.
The app was amazing. I must admit though, tough challenge keeping up with our boy Paul Drew.
I've another event on Wednesday so I'm there just Thursday this year, but lots of the team there Wednesday and Thursday. Hope we hook up with you Jason.
I cant see the Leaderboard functionality this year though?
They changed the app last year as it wasn't on for ACE or other conferences they ran. I loved the leader board concept however got slightly competitive with it. I wanted to end up as number one in the CIPD L&D world
Champion!!!
Paul - you'll always be our No 1! ;-)
