I like to share something along these lines every few months as the world is CHANGING SO FAST.
The rise in super fast internet speeds and more global connections have transformed the world we live in. But what does that mean for traffic, for volume and what is actually being shared
Here is one of the latest image - the big stand out for me is 44 million messages sent on Whatsapp in 60 second - I mean....wow...you can't even imagine what that would look like.
It's also worth comparing to the last one we shared as you can see how consumer use and new products are driving the traffic on the web
6 seconds on the internet 2015
Lot's of these are driven by apps so mobile has a massive impact on web traffic now as well. I'm wondering what we can learn from this about how people want to communicate and access information. What does that mean for workplace learning
Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing that Mike, hadn't seen one of them for a while. WhatsApp and WeChat, wow! But they still don't get anywhere near email.Perhaps a generation thing? The obvious point for me is we can't rely on any one communications channel to reach everybody anymore. Although in a work environment people will be expected to pick up emails for the time being, the opportunities for learning really are endless...
Hi Eva
Thanks for your comments and yes I think it is a generational thing to some degree i.e. the apps that are massively used now that are driving how we communicate outside of work. However these apps are finding there way in to the workplace and new tools are springing up that are invading the workplace. We now use Slack extensively within our own team (not across the business) but because I have a remote team Slack works really well as an instant message tool. We have also started to use Whatsapp group when we go to conferences so we can share photos and keep in touch with each other when we're out and about and in different locations.
Email will take a long time to disappear (if ever) but we so have much more choice now on how we keep in touch and work together.
