Hi
I'm looking to implement a Learning Management System into my organisation and wondered if anyone had any suggestions or recommendations. I'm also working on a tight budget!
Thanks
Rebekah
Did you know your local CIPD branch will put on relevant events that are free to CIPD members.
Take a look for your local branch here and what events are happening. Remember attending these events are great CPD evidence.
Click here to see a full list of members including our Facilitators.
Did you know that if you go to the list of members, the Members Online button will show you who is online right now? Why not say hello?

Some good suggestions here. I suppose it depends on the size of your organisation and what you want to achieve with your LMS.
We looked at a number from the pretty basic (LearnDash plugin for WordPress), through the separate social learning based systems like Ning (used here on DPG) through to bigger beasts like Claro. Here's a useful listing of the bigger ones: Top Ten LMS in 2015
We are using Docebo, as it links into our other systems well. It's pretty good as a more formal course-based LMS, but there are some better (but more expensive!) ones on the market that are better at collaborative and social learning.
One thing to look out for is how they charge for access. Docebo is good in only charging users that actually log in per month, rather than all who are signed up for the system. Can have a big impact on the overall costs.
Hi Rebekah
I've had a few demos and the best one i've seen so far is Grovo. Not sure if you've checked them but it may be worth doing and likewise if you have seen anything you think might be useful to me?
Thanks
Adam
Simply Personnel LMS is an “off the shelf” learning management system (LMS), designed for businesses to manage their site compliance training. It was recommended to us by the SGS auditor. We've looked at this as well as a few other more expensive options hoping to achieve the following points:
The LMS system will enable the compliance training team to:
The LMS will provide managers with the tool to oversee and manage their staff’s training by:
The LMS will provide individuals with the tool to manage their own training by:
In addition the system will have the following functionality:
We haven't bought into one yet, but Simply Personnel was a decent cheap option.
Kallidus provide an impressive, but more expensive option which is potentially multifunctional (ie more than just an LMS as, if you wish, you can use it to manage performance and for talent management among other things).
At the moment it seems as though everyone I speak to wants to provide us with a cloud based LMS, including nearly every provider of e learning! Good luck with choosing yours :)
PS I have found that the cost is usually linked to the number of users that you need to set it up for.
I've just had a meeting where this was being discussed for our business so thanks for posting. If anyone has any companies they could recommend that would be fantastic for me to start my search. If i find any good ones i'll also share with you Rebekah.
Thanks
Adam
Hi Rebekah, there's a great little cheap simple book that I have read and I think you might find helpful - LMS success by Katrina Baker. It starts with selecting & implementing an LMS right through to realising the value of your LMS.
Good luck
Michelle
Thanks Michelle, I will take a look at it.
I've recently gone through the process. We had a decent budget however suppliers can give very big discounts, I got 75% off SuccessFactors pricing. When we were looking I was very impressed by the Totara LMSs that Webanywhere and Mind Click supplier, both companies also seemed very capable. If not for the discounts we got I would have gone with one of those if on a budget.
Hope that gives you a idea of some to look at.
Cheers,
Pete
Many thanks Peter, I have arranged a meeting with webanywhere.
