Hi all
I am putting together a business case for a Talent Management system and have been tasked with exploring best practice for on boarding. What do your organisations do and how does technology contribute to this?
Many thanks
Anna

Did you know your local CIPD branch will put on relevant events that are free to CIPD members.
Take a look for your local branch here and what events are happening. Remember attending these events are great CPD evidence.

Did you know that if you go to the list of members, the Members Online button will show you who is online right now? Why not say hello?

Some great thoughts and resources already here
Towards Maturity issued an article you might find usefu on how blended learningcan support inductionl http://www.towardsmaturity.org/article/2015/03/04/5-ways-improve-on...
I remember sky and brightwave did something around an induction portal as well and a quick Google search threw this up which you might find useful again

Hi Anna
Nick Shackleton-Jones created an onboarding experience for new-starters based on short resources based on the need of that person and where they were in the process. There was no LMS powering this. There is a video on the approach here . . .
Hi Anna,
Best practice for onboarding is probably a slippery concept because what is best at one organisation will not be ‘best’ somewhere else.
Having said that, there is one key moment in every on boarding process that most organisations ignore, and I think it is critical. It is the moment when someone gets home after their first day in a new job and they are asked that inevitable question by someone who probably has a vested interest in that job. How does the new starter respond?
As the new starter reflects on and discusses their first day with spouse, friends, children, how do you want them to respond? That means you need to set up your first day in such a way that they will make the response you would like them to make. And the second day, and the third, and so on.
Most onboarding programs are very focused on what the company wants, and very few seem to do much that caters for what the new starter wants and also needs in order for them to feel they have made a good decision about joining the organisation.
I have spoken about onboarding at a number of conferences, and indeed the next time will be at the World of Learning event at the NEC in mid-October, so maybe see you there :-)
Do get in touch if you would like to have a chat about onboarding in general, some options and some pitfalls, and also about how technology can help or hinder it.
My best wishes, Paul
