Hi All,

My company has a social/video learning tool - "CompanyTube" which both our L&D team and learners are already creating content with.

What I am trying to find is some kind of tool or template for creating storyboards for short video content - how to structure a video and how to tell the best story...

Is anyone willing to share or point me in the direction of any tool or template that they have used in this respect?

Many thanks.

Andrew

  • HI Andrew,

I tend to keep it simple with storyboarding using Powerpoint. I find it helps to use the slide itself as things you can see and the notes section for things you can't. So on the slide, I will make some notes on what's happening on screen, angles, scenes etc. In the notes section, I will add in scripts, narration, notes for production etc.

This has worked well for storyboarding many things, such as eLearning, video productions, podcasts really well and I've stuck with that. Sometimes I use Excel to map out storyboard content too.

There are special tools out there such as Adobe Story, but sometimes the simpler familiar tools are the best.

Just one word of warning with Powerpoint, is if you have a lot to write in the notes section, you might want to span this over multiple slides so that when you print it off you can see everything on the printed version.

    Hope all this helps,
    Ady
