Last Friday I attended the CIPD Annual Centre's Conference for all intermediate and foundation qualifications
It was great to mix with other centre's and share experiences, along with catching up with the CIPD external verification and QA team.
Perry Timms gave a interesting and thought provoking speech on Punk HR which motivated me as an HR specialist to continue challenging business decisions in relation to people.
Key points from the conference included:
CIPD now has 83 centre's
There is a new CIPD Office in Singapore
CIPD are aiming to crack the Global market
Intermediate level student numbers have doubled in the last year
I particularly enjoyed the Northern Centre's Session where all Northern Centre's shared their experiences of delivery over that last 12 months, from this there are a number of activities which centre's have adopted to help them improve their completion rates and lowering withdrawals. I'm interested in how we can take these and mirror them in an online environment so they work to support and enhance our CIPD delivery model.
So can we develop on line support modules for participants to refer to when they have left our workshops e.g.
- How to study/study skills
- Harvard referencing
- Mock tribunal
Videos of learners experiences to use with new learners who may feel a little lost
Dedicated on line facilitators to support participants like a college would have a student support officer on hand in college whenever it is open dedicated to the programme and queries from existing students.

Thanks for sharing Gail , really good info here.
Do you think we could adopt some of the things you mention above in this community?
