DPG Mentor Scheme is Back...

DPG Mentor Scheme is Back...

Hi everyone,

Following our first 'mentor scheme' we were able to match over 20 people with a mentor. With our latest cohorts getting underway we're looking to see if we can do the same again. We created a DPG Mentoring Group with some hints & tips and a place for both mentors and mentorees to chat and share. Take a look.

One of the things that we know is important and can make such a difference to personal & professional development is to have and/or be a mentor.

We recommend that all our students have a mentor and have some support throughout their programmes. This isn't just to provide help and advice about the qualification but it also provides an opportunity to discuss all things HR / L&D with someone who is more experienced and someone who can share ideas and thoughts on a range of topics. It's hard to find a great mentor but we believe we have so much potential in this community from existing and past students and our wider networks.

Having a mentor is a great support and so helpful but being a mentor is a deeply rewarding and worthwhile experience and it is also something great to have on your CV.

You can read more about working with a mentor in this great blog post from Joss Anderson

Working with a Mentor

Have you recently finished your CIPD Qualifications? Would you be willing to mentor someone who is going through a qualification now?

We already have people who are in need of a mentor - can you fit the bill?

What happens next?

The DPG team are keen to help and encourage those who want to get more from either having a mentor or becoming a mentor. We will match and link people together so you can have an initial chat and work out if you can work together. What happens after that is up to you.

We will use the DPG Community as a support network and if anyone is interested in getting involved as a mentor we'd love to hear from you in the comments below.

If you need a Mentor then again register your interest and let us know in comments below - we can't promise to match everyone but we will do out best, the more we have the easier it is!

Hope you can get involved, we look foward to hearing from you.

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Happy to mentor again. It has been a joy so far. It's been w while since I completed a CIPD qualification though, so I might be too out of the loop now, but it's a great scheme and I've enjoyed being involved.

  • Hi Mike, I would love a mentor to help me while I am completing my programme. Especially someone savy in the ways of social media as I am in need of help as you know :-)

  • Hi I am starting HRM Level 5 and would love to have a mentor.

    Thanks

    Grace

  • Just staring the Level 5 HRM and have been reading through the DPP Assessment and Participants Pack. Lots of really interesting stuff to get into but I would really appreciate a mentor.

  • Hi there - thanks to everyone who's been in touch we're starting to collate who we have and start to look at potential matches :)

  • Hi, I'm stating the HR level 3 this October and I would like to have a mentor. I currently work in an HR environment as an HR Support officer but I'm looking to fully integrate into HR.

  • Hi, I'm studying HR level 3, and am not currently working within the HR field. Would love to find a mentor to help me with general questions, as when working hypothetically its easy to loose track of where you are! Hope to hear from someone soon.

    Ti.

  • Happy to be a Mentor Mike. I have worked in HR for 25 years as well as working as an Assessor for DPG on level 5 HRM.

    • Thanks so much Jane - will be in touch shortly

  • I'm always more than happy to be a mentor Mike. Having only recently completed my Level 5 HRM I know just how valuable it is to have support, both in the workplace and for the demands of the course.

    Steve
