New to Level 5 - How do you organise your time?

Hi everyone.

I've just started (in November) my level 5 L&D HRD course. Part of my first assignment is to write my first Blog and I thought I'd have a bash at opening a discussion around the old chestnut of Time Management.

I'm fortunate that I have the opportunity to complete some of my assignments in work, however I'm sure that many of us feel the pressure of getting your work submitted on time and the sinking feeling when you're trying to juggle work, home life and the course itself.

Along with the many time management models and prioritisation techniques, has anyone come up with any new or novel ways to effectively organise their time that they would like to share or moreover, discuss ways that they have made the study more fun!!

I found it a little daunting at first but when you have to use words like "disciplined" and "sacrifice" when learning, it tends to automatically feel its something you have to do, rather than want to do.

So please feel free to share any ideas or thoughts and it will be great to see how creative people are in their studies.

Thanks in Advance

  • I do love a good slidedeck - here is one on the subject and whilst not relevant to studying specifically I think there is some good stuff in here

  • Thanks for the feedback chaps. Mike, I'll take a look and see what I can use so thanks for the heads up!!

  • You might have already come across this blog but there are some great tips here Keith

But when will I find time to study

  • Thanks for the link to Business Balls.  I don't know if I have any earth shattering advice.  I can't get any assignment stuff done at work so it has to be done in the evenings and weekends.  Juggling alternate weekends with my kids means that I know I have every other weekend free.  That's where the "discipline" and "sacrifice" come in.  It's not a chance to kick up my heels but a chance to get my study done (with a little socialising of course).

  • Great Keith.

Thanks for the blog and getting us underway...I'm sure you have all seen the urgent and important time management matrix. - This can be found on Business Balls...http://www.businessballs.com/timemanagement.htm

If you glance over this page there is some good stuff, the matrix is the 2nd one down. Hope this helps everyone :)

Hi - I will be working on ways to introduce and create Fertility support at workplace - I am exploring what the EAP offers but this is specific need - has anyone done this in their org? Any advise or tips will be much appreciated, thanks.
