New Year New Me – But How?

New Year New Me – But How?

One of the strangest things about the Christmas and New Year holiday period is how almost everything we do can be traced back through the generations of our family.

Everything!

We laugh at people who decorate their tree in November, we would never do that before the last Sunday in Advent.

We wonder how people can describe roast beef and Yorkshire pub as Christmas lunch, when it’s a meal that demands turkey. The list goes on and on.

Just as the countdown to the festivities is marked by the opening of the first window on our traditional Advent calendar the final stage is the making of New Year resolutions.

Those promises we make to ourselves and others in the hope of receiving support about how different the next twelve months are going to be. Come next Christmas we’ll be unrecognisable.

Trouble is that our enthusiasm soon wains when presented with options that we know will provide an all too easy route to the comfort of old habits.

Whether the change that we want to make is health, home, social, financial or work related the greatest challenge in any challenge is finding a way to overcome the distractions.

This is the challenge that Chip Gaines, the star of the Fixer Upper show on USA based Home & Garden television network (HGTV), faced and overcame, and which forms the basis of our first free book summary of 2019.

In Capital Gaines – Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff Chip shares his experiences and illustrates how they helped him succeed by being fearless and trusting his gut instincts.

It’s a classic tale of how to turn your mistakes in to learning opportunities and convert your weaknesses into strengths.

Chip explains how you can transfer down-home common sense to any endeavour that will make it easier to achieve any goal, or New Year resolution.

With hand-written pages amongst the types text you couldn’t get a more personal insight into the route that one man took to achieve the lifestyle he wanted, and the lessons he learnt along the way, including

  • What Chip Gaines advises on approaching business decisions and life choices,
  • What strategies will help you listen to your instincts and quell your fears, and
  • How businesspeople and entrepreneurs can better balance work time with family time.

You can download your free copy of the book summary of Capital Gaines – Smart Things I Learned Doing Stupid Stuff Chip from the Work Place Learning Centre
