What are the most in-demand skills in 2017?

What are the most in-demand skills in 2017?

This short video captures the top ten most in-demand skills for this year according to Linkedin. These skills include SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) Marketing at no. 9, User Interface Design at no.5 with the no. 1 spot going to Cloud and Distributed Computing - people who can maintain and manage these systems are most in demand.

So with the incredible growth of technology and the huge impact this has on the way in which our organisations operate, its perhaps no surprise that these 'most needed' skills are all in the digital arena - but what does this mean for you and your organisation?  Does your organisation have these skills?  And if not where will you get them?  What are the implications to both HR and L&D in this?

If we think directly about what skills we need within HR and L&D itself and link back to a couple of DPG blogs on the community back in 2015:

http://community.dpgplc.co.uk/blog/10-skills-that-will-make-you-an-outstanding-hr-professional

http://community.dpgplc.co.uk/blog/10-characteristics-of-an-outstanding-l-d-professional

You can see in these blogs that being 'Tech savvy' comes in at no. 6  for HR and 'Digital Skills' comes in at no. 3 for L&D, but is this enough?  Do you think these skills should come nearer to the top of the list for us in HR and L&D in order to keep up with the increasingly technological world in which we live and work?
