Networking tips for introverts

As an introvert I find networking hard - lots of people, lots of noise and lots of stimulation over many hours doesn't sound like fun to me.

I happened to stumble across this article on my Facebook feed, and I thought I'd give it a read as I understand how important networking is these days.

Personally I found it really helpful and it's sparked off some ideas for me to think about or act on. As such I don't want to keep it to myself as I know there are lots of introverts (hiding it or proud of it) out there who could benefit too.

I hope it's helpful to someone else, the link is below:

  • Hi Katy,

Thanks for this. One tip I was given a long time ago is arrive early, in-fact be the first.  This may sound odd advice, but if you are first then you have control of the room in a way.  You may know or be talking to the sponsor when other people enter the room, there is a good chance the sponsor/organiser will know them and introduce you. It is much easier than arriving late and then trying to introduce yourself to gorups of people already chatting away and passed the initial introductions.

  • Hi Katy

What a great article - thank you for sharing.

Every little helps as they say :-)

  • Hi Katy, thanks for sharing the link.

  • Hi Katy, thank you for sharing, being an introvert myself - i found it very useful!

    • Glad you found it helpful :)

  • Hi Katy - I find this really interesting, (thank you for the share), - I particularly like the 'connect on twitter' point - and essentially you have come on here and done just that but within the DPG community - you've connected, and put yourself out there, and I for one am looking forward to being part of your learning network.  I work alongside Gary as a personal facilitator so our paths will definitely cross some time soon - chat then!

    • Thanks Kathryn, I'm glad you found it interesting :) That's very true, I thought they were tips that you could easily integrate even if you weren't an introvert!
