Hans van Bergen - Consultant Technology in Education Hogeschool Utrecht(Utrecht University of Applied Sciences)
Hans was trained as singer and music teacher at Conservatorium Arnhem and graduated in both programs. After ten years of singing in a professional choir and teaching music at primary schools, he became music teacher at the teacher training college from Hogeschool Utrecht in 1993.
Pretty soon he was involved in designing a digital learning environment for music at all Dutch TTC’s by order of the ministry of education. Over the years Hans switched more and more from music to technology in education. For almost ten years Hans was responsible for implementation of the digital portfolio at Hogeschool Utrecht. This included a European Tender and resulted in the use of the digital portfolio by the majority of the 40.000 students at the university.
About three years ago the board of Hogeschool Utrecht asked to develop the didactical concept on blended learning. Hans is now responsible for this concept and the translation of this concept to a digital learning environment. In this digital learning environment, HUbl, there are now 57 courses active for more than 3000 students in the educational programs. In the 2014-2015 period this will expend to 150 courses for 5000 students in all departments of HU.
