CPD on Leadership

Hi all, just thought I would post a contribution to the CPD page...Who says sport can't be a source of CPD? I was reading an excellent article about the factors contributing to the success of the All Blacks rugby team, both on and off the field, with some great insights and comments with regard to the role of leadership...and then this quote by Tom Peters within the article caught my attention..."Great leaders do not create followers, they create more leaders..."The article highlighted the fact that the All Blacks enjoy great success on the field as they cultivate a shared sense of leadership and responsibility within the team...I don't think I could create a stronger link between the truth of that statement, whether on the sports field or within successful organisations, and its applicability in business.

  • Hi Shaun

Yes you are dead right and there is a lot around coaching at the moment and the role which mindset can play in terms of a competitive advantage in both sport and business. I also loved the GB cycling team approach how it was all a matter of the incrementally small differences which made the difference between winning and losing and can also definitely be applied to business.

    Kind regards
