Hi Everyone. I ran this webinar 3 months ago. We've had lots of people join DPG programmes and progress to different stages in their programmes since then so I figured that I should repeat this session. Maybe you weren't in the Community last time I ran it, maybe it's more relevant to you now than it was then or maybe you attended last time and you want a refresher. If any of those situations ring true, or indeed you have another reason for attending, then you are invited!
I'm planning to keep it to 30 minutes this time. We'll go for a punchy quick pace to make an impact - and leave you more time for your lunch plans (more importantly).
Here's the explanation I wrote in the build-up to the first time I ran this session:
Analyse this... evaluate that... list those... identify some...
You'll see words like these, and more, near the beginning of questions and tasks on your assessment briefs - but what is the assessor looking for?
Is understanding the expectations around these words a skill that you can take with you to make your journey from assignment to assignment that bit easier? We say: yes!
Often we see people write really interesting passages that are unfortunately missing the point of what is being asked. This result is the assessors receive insightful and well-prepared submissions that don't answer the question being asked. This gobbles up precious word count and means the assessor has no choice but to fail the assignment. Don't let this be you!
The most learned HR or L&D professional in the world can submit an assignment, but if they miss the point of the answer - it's a fail.
That's what Gary, the Professional Development Community Manager, will focus on in this webinar: we'll look at common terms that you find in assessments and work through examples and definitions so that you leave the webinar with tactics and strategies that will help you meet the criteria regardless of the programme or unit you are studying. We won't be looking at specific answers to specific questions. Instead, we'll look at 'key-wording' an assignment question to tap into exactly what the assessor has been instructed to look for.
Would you try to complete a jigsaw puzzle without looking at the picture on the box? Of course not, so join the webinar and understand what is expected of you before you begin.
