The trouble with #metoo is that it represents people who do have a voice and in the case of the people who started it money! My problem with it is it deflects real problems in the UK namely CSE which gets brushed under the carpet every time #metoo hits the media!
Look at the Rotherham CSE scandal, the police have literally years and years of investigation work to undertake still, both South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council have been highly complicit in the scandal, yet in Rotherham MBC's case, not one councillor nor council official has faced charges. As for SYP where do I start! What with the Hillsborough Inquiry, Cliff Richard and well as Rotherham.
The trouble is in the case of CSE it is being repeated all over the country in towns and cities, Bradford, Huddersfield, Telford and so on. With Telford, the police are actually in denial that is has happened and is going on!
How was this situation allowed to happen? Well, it isn't the fault of EDI programmes but more the way they have been delivered, in fact in some cases what has been delivered isn't a sensible approach to EDI but nothing more than political correctness which has meant people have been encouraged to turn a blind eye. In some cases, HR in these organisations has played an active part in promoting flawed political correctness dogma.
