Hi Everyone,
I am looking for some advice with regards to Company Cars particularly for Part Time Workers. Currently, we ask employees who work less than 35 hours per week to contribute to the cost of their company car on their non-working days. We have had conflicting advice from ACAS and other sources as to whether this is something we should be doing.
Is this something anyone has come across previously or has incorporated within their Company Car Policy?
Thanks in advance!

Hi AmyThis is an interesting one when I worked at EON we used to provide the Company Car irrespective of the hours worked if it was a benefit associated with the position/level. Interestingly though the employee could also have a cash allowance instead of a car and I am pretty sure that that used to get pro ratd based on the number of hours the part timer actually worked.
I think the approach which you outline could be potentially indirectly discrimnatory as it is a practice which is applied to the workforce which is predmoninatly likely to be women. What did ACAS say?
