Hi all,
We've fairly recently had the results of our employee engagement survey and it is clear that employees do not receive recognition or praise often enough.
Has anyone successfully managed to promote and embed a recognition-rich environment, where recognition and praise is the norm?
We delivered training on the value of feedback to all line managers recently but I wondered if you have any other tips I could explore.
Thanks,
Sophie

Hi Sophie,
In may last company, we introduced a Praise Database along with a criteria to accompany it. So any feedback provided to any individual would be recorded on the database, and HR would monitor how the feedback met the criteria. A summary of the main feedback which met criteria was provided to the Senior Management team who then made a decision on monthly and quarterly awards. The awards consisted of vouchers, certificates for customer service excellence, money and the annual prize was for the company to pay for a flight to visit one of our international branches.
This worked really well, and after the initial teething issues of people understanding the process, it was a very smooth process.

Hi Sophie,
The training you delivered to managers on feedback, was it delivered by an external Company or by yourself?
Thanks
Jennifer
The training was delivered by an external consultant. We're going to reinforce this with a shorter bite size session delivered to all staff.
Thanks,
Sophie
Thanks for posting such an interesting question I have found a really interesting article with some ideas if this helps

From a practical perspective my first point of call would be a focus group to ask the employees about reward and recognition in the workplace.
Hope this helps

I'm also investigating the option of running a focus group internally to dig a little deeper on the issue.
All the best,
Sophie
That's great Sophie let us know how you get on for the future.
All the best
