I came across this on my email feed, thanks to Pinsent Masons for a useful summary of where the dispute has got to. I thought this would be useful for those Level 5 learners who are looking at DER and contemporary developments in employee relations.

I thought the comments about strengthening ACAS' role were interesting and government intervention.

What do you predict will happen next with this dispute?

It would be great to hear your thoughts.

On the back of my post last week about Gender Pay Gap Reporting I then noticed that ACAS had published some guidance which I thought looked useful

I have not had time to digest this yet it popped up on my LinkedIn feed, I thought it looked a really useful piece of research from the Exec Summary though.

I thought you may be interested in this recently published guidance from ACAS.

It has some useful templates especially for managers who are not confident in conducting investigations.

It will come as no surprise that the Met Office has confirmed that yesterday (Wednesday) was the hottest day of the year and declared a Level 3 Heat-health alert.

Acas have prepared a list of recommendations to help employers manage workplace challenges due to the hot weather, which you can access here:

Most of the guidance is common sense, but it may help with those more unreasonable managers.

Have you used the ACAS helpline?https://community.dpgplc.co.uk/human-resources/have-you-used-the-acas-helpline2013-12-11T15:53:20.000Z2013-12-11T15:53:20.000ZSteve Davishttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/SteveDavis

Hi all,

I attended an ACAS employment law update last week, and the leader was very enthusiastic about the Acas helpline, encouraging us to use the service when next in need of a quick answer from a very reliable and dependable source.

Today, I had just that need. It was one of those occasions where it's not quite a straight forward answer to a concern, the manager was getting himself wound up and the member of staff had come to me for advice. I won't go into the intricacies here, as it would fill a fair few screens worth of text!

Suffice to say, I gave the helpline a go.

I have to say, I was most impressed with the service. A bit of waiting while I confirmed that I wasn't ringing about min wage etc. but very soon I was chatting away to an Acas advisor. He was able to very quickly give me all the information I needed to be able to resolve the matter very quickly. Both the manager and the staff member were happy to accept it without any further query.

So, next time you are faced with a situation where you need quick and dependable advice on an HR matter - give them a bell on 08457 474747

It's a free service so why not give it a go?

http://www.acas.org.uk/

Anyone else had similar experience, or perhaps otherwise?
