The pre-agreed holiday should therefore be taken out of the employee's annual entitlement.

The employee is complaining and has claimed there is a 'rule' which dictates any pre-agreed holiday prior to starting a new role should be given as additional leave and should not be taken out of their annual entitlement. I have looked but cannot find anything on this 'rule'. Is anyone else aware of this and would you agree with my opinion above?

Thanks so much!

Sophie

New Employee Holidayshttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/human-resources/new-employee-holidays2016-09-08T09:31:03.000Z2016-09-08T09:31:03.000ZChrissy Allenhttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/ChristineAllen

Hi all,

Can anyone please clarify for me whether employers have to honour a new employee's pre-booked holidays? I thought they did, but elsewhere online I've seen it said that you only have to honour the holiday if you're made aware of it before the you've made a job offer.

Are there hard and fast rules or does it depend on company policy?

Thank you,

Chrissy

(Bank) Holiday!https://community.dpgplc.co.uk/human-resources/bank-holiday2016-08-22T13:09:57.000Z2016-08-22T13:09:57.000ZSarah Loateshttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/SarahLoates

A timely resource for those of you looking forward to the long weekend. It never ceases to amaze me when I advise employers that employees are not autoamitcally entitled to Bank Holidays or that they can decline a holiday request!

I am sure for some of you this will be a really easy question to answer but I am having trouble getting my head round it!

We have a number of staff on part time and we haven't pro rata the bank holidays we just did it if it fell on one they had it if they didn't they didn't and as all of the worked Mondays they came off well. However now we have a few that work Wed to Fri and whilst I was off they had their holiday calculated to pro rata the bank hols as well.

This works fine for those who work same hours every day but we have one girl who works 2 full days and 1 half day and I cannot work her holiday out, guessing it would be better in hours but not sure as we run days here!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Rachel
