Hi,
I thought I would pose the question above as I am working on my Level 7 Management Research Report, and wanted to see if anyone had either worked on this subject before, or indeed have experienced where there are evident links between Employee Engagement and Motivation. I have found some research on the subject area, but it's also good I think to gain other peoples opinions and experiences.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Debbie,
Have you seen the Dan Pink talk 'The Surprising Truth of Motivation'? How you engage employees and motivate them isn't always the obvious or tried and testing methods. I love the point he makes about that we do in business is the complete opposite to what science can prove. Food for thought.
Brilliant Mike, thanks very much.

Hi Debbie
I have done a little work on this subject and its indeed a focus in our organisation at the moment. I once came across a simple article that really made sense. It explained employee engagement, motivation and commitment are all dependent on each other. Motivation is 'wanting' to do your job (and going the extra mile) and commitment is around the level of connection to the organisation. If each of these is present then that leads to an employee being truly 'engaged'.
Motivation is a very individual thing as when we are motivated it's because we ultimately feel its worthwhile, we have a sense of self worth by doing what we do. If we feel that the task/role/action/behaviour is pointless, we may avoid doing it as we will then feel 'worthless'.
I hope that helps at all :)
Hi Jo
Thank you for taking the time to come back to me, I appreciate that. Very valid and useful pointers for me, thank you.
