Hi all
It's my first time posting here but looks like a really useful and valuable source of help :-)
I'm working on my third assignment for the Level 5 HRM at the moment. I'm doing a questionnaire in my own organisation on the level of confidence and knowledge that our administrators/managers have of the HRIS they input data into, and how that impacts on errors made.
I have stacks of primary data. However i'm drawing a bit of a blank (or perhaps just not quite understanding what to look for) with ideas for the secondary data sources. I will be able to find general previous research done on the use of technology in business and the impact it has. I'm also intending to contact our payroll department and obtain some data from them to support the project. Could this be counted as secondary data? Or is it still primary because it came from within the organisation I am basing my project on?
Sorry for all the questions. Any and all help gratefully received :-)

Hi Catherine
Thanks for posting great to hear from you!
I was wondering does the organisation who you have purchased your HRIS have any case study information or information they provide to market their software?
In terms of payroll it would be secondary data if the information already exists i.e. they provide usage stats and primary if you undertook the research directly with them.
My top tip would be to clearly identify the topic of research as a problem you are seeking to resolve for the business.
Good luck with your research!
Kind regards
Sarah
