Hi, Add Discussion

I am looking for some advice on a subject I have litte experience with.

A family member applied successfully for an internal role and has accepted it. The role is yet to commence, but it has been heard on the grapevine that once the role starts that department is likely to merge with another one. The role would then change significantly and ultimately have a complete different job description.

Will the employer need to consult with the employees regarding this?

What are the options of returning to their previous, old role (should this still be open)?

Looking forward to your replies!

Thank you :)

  • Hi Kathrin

So yes typically the employer would be required to consult about the change, that said if your family member is aware of this now perhaps they could speak with their employer.

That way they can make a decision based on both options.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards

    Sarah
