Hi folks,

Some help please.

Would anyone have a template or form of words they could direct me to that would provide a comprehensive case for an employee moving from Full time to part time hours following maternity.

The predominent reason is around caring responsibilities for the child and they are based in Northern Ireland

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Conor

  • Hi Conor

not comprehensive I am afraid but have you looked at the government’s family friendly and flexible working policies?

There is a statutory right to request flexible working but it doesn’t have to be agreed by the business if there is a case for it. I would suggest looking at the wealth of information online studies and research etc. That shows how successful flexible working has been in terms of morale/well being as well as proven improved performance and impact.

Knowing the reasons an employer may say no means you can prepare for that and have ideas to help.

Such as recruitment - suggesting a job share and building in succession.

I know it’s not a template, but these are things that I would expect to see from our employees when requesting flexible working.
