The HR Forum

I work for a company who have staff based at HQ as well as a number of staff who work remotely all over the world. My Directors are wanting me to have informal chats with all staff members to find out about what motivates them, what their pain points are, what the company is doing well and what it can improve. I know from experience that when HR comes calling for a chat, staff members are more than likely to clam up. I am looking for some advice on how to approach this to ensure I get honest information from our staff members.

    I agree an informal chat with HR, may not be something that people run towards. As really it depends on the strength of the relationship between HR and employees, and the trust.

     Firstly I would want to understand so what is driving asking the question? As they may be providing a solution i.e. informal chats which does not give them the information they need.

    There could also be other means of obtaining the information, and this woudl also need careful positioning with the employees. So for examples focus groups, employee survey or other means where employees can be given a voice.
