Stress Management

There are various groups/ pages that I like on Facebook and a while back this article popped up on my news feed.

I read it for the second time today (it didn't go in properly the first time but I knew the tips were good) and I thought that this would be a good place to share this.

I think stress is a factor that is affecting most people these days at work and/ or at home and employers need to help with its management as undoubtedly stress affects our performance. 

Hopefully this will be of interest to someone else and we can help support each other's well-being.

  • Thanks for sharing this Katy I think you are quite right and I think this is one of the single biggest factors which can impact an employee's wellbeing at work.

    In the past personally I have found using mindfulness techniques have helped me during periods of high stress/anxiety, which seems similar to some of the things which the article suggests. Sometimes I find that as an HR professional it can be pretty stressful dealing with others when they are in an heightened state of anxiety and trying to ensure you keep calm and collected and sometimes we forget to take care of ourselves to ensure we avoid 'burnout'.

      I do mindfulness as well using Headspace and it's amazing how much it can make a difference. I used to do a daily positive/ gratitude diary and list three of each, although that habit has slipped slightly and it would be really good to get back into it!

      • That sounds really interesting Katy I have not heard of a gratitude diary, is it things you are grateful for on that specific day on life in general? Would be interested to hear. KR Sarah

        • It was something I picked up from a website called Happify that designs tracks and writes articles encouraging people to use principles of positive psychology in their lives to increase happiness. 
          On the tracks, they would encourage you to either write some things down daily that you were grateful for or weekly. They could things that happened on that day/ week or in general - if I had a really bad day the main things I put down was being grateful for having a home, food, etc. to put the day back into perspective.
