I have just completed my Level 3 HRP Certificate and soon starting my additional Diploma units.
I am contemplating going straight in to the Level 5 HRM Certificate/Diploma and wondered if anyone who has done this can share their experience with me?
How much more work/hours did you find that you needed to put in each week in comparison to the level you were putting in for your level 3?
Was it significantly more challenging in terms of the assignments?
Is it worth doing the Diploma or would the Certificate suffice?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I can't comment on how much extra work will be involved as I went straight in at level 5 but I think that as you are in 'study mode' already, it might be a good idea to go straight onto the level 5 as everything you have learnt from level 3 will be fresh in your mind and you will be building on this. I do about 8 hours reading/studying a week and in addition to this work through the e-lessons. Whether you do the cert or diploma really depends on what you want to learn, if you do the diploma you will also get to do the law module which is always very useful in HR.

Hi Milly, I would be interested to know what you decide? I am about to embark on my initial training and have been advised to go in at level 5 Diploma, as I have done a bit of HR work in the past and so level 3 would be too basic?? I'm unsure of this and would not want to jump into level 5 and struggle, but I also don't want to waste my companies money on a basic training programme, and run the risk of not having an opportunity to continue my development?
It is all such a headache and I want to get it right first time, so any and all advice is welcomed.

I was also advised to go in for Level 5 as I have worked in HR for over 7 years. Like you I was not sure, as it had been a long time since I had last undertaken this kind of study, but I decided to go ahead and started in March this year. The work is challenging but you will receive support from your facilitator (definitely use them for support/advice) and other group members. As long as you do the e-lessons, read and complete about 8 hours of study a week, you should be fine with Level 5.
