work experience/Fixed Term Contract employee

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a good resource which details what defines a work experience person and at what point they should be a paid employee? i.e., where someone wants work experience (happy for it be unpaid) but wants to work one day a week for the next 7 or 8 weeks - is this seen as work experience or fixed term contract employee?

any assistance on this is really appreciated.

thanks

  • Hi Rachael

So basically there are some very specific requirements about whether someone is truly undertakieng work experience / or volunteering versus say an internship.

    Check out some guidance here:

    https://www.gov.uk/employment-rights-for-interns

    I hoep this helps
