It’s the CIPD annual conference in Manchester next Tuesday and Wednesday. As usual there is lots of great content to get stuck into.
Four out of five of the conference streams are concerned with L&D. I think that's significant. They are:
- Organisation Effectiveness and Change
- Performance and Talent Management
- Science of Human Behaviour
- Future of Work and Business Insights
Keynote Margaret Heffernan promises to be very interesting. To give you a flavour of her thinking, it is worth checking out her TED Talks. Here’s one on getting the best work out of employees.
The exhibition is full of free learning too, including DPG’s session on Removing the distance from distance learning which is on day one at 10am in the HR Trends and Essentials Zone. If you are not in the conference, you can catch Margaret Heffernan at 11.30am in the same zone.
And if you can't make it, follow the event on Twitter at: #cipdACE16
If you are going, what will you be aiming to get out of the conference?

Great question Martin. I've an action packed couple of days up there and setting out to get loads out of the conference. Me and the team from DPG are very interested in catching some good conversations. We would absolutely love to talk to anyone that's on our programmes already and really keen to meet some of you face to face. I'll also be finding out more about this 'Shaping the Future of Work' theme and what this means to us all in HR and L&D. Definitely going to catch Mike's session. Removing the distance from distance learning is something we're very keen on and I know he's talking about some good stuff in that.
So all in all, busy couple of days. I might need to blow the dust off my FitBit. They'll be some steps involved!
What about everyone else? What's your plans?
