Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help!

My company has a large levy pot which thankfully we are having no issues spending, however we are struggling when it comes employees commitment. 

Although employees are motivated and committed at sign up, this tends to lag within a few months. We are offering our support but some are still insistent on having to drop out - some 9 months in to their 12 month apprenticeship which is sometimes meaning a loss of £3000.

With this cost not being something we can recoup it's something that we are keen to address.

How are you managing to keep your employees motivated and committed? Do you have any policy in place for those that sign up? Any form of commitment statement.

    I can relate to this, keeping apprentices motivated and engaged in their learning is a challenge.

    We have had situations where people have even left the business as a result of apprenticeships and their course. Have you surveyed or gained any information on why the people are choosing not to complete their apprenticeship?

    After our initial bumpy period with setting up our pathways and payscales for learners we introduced an apprentice review. Its an informal meeting but it irons out any concerns the learner may have and gives the learner an opportunity to reflect.

    Admin is minimal as we use survey monkey as a guide through the review. You can look for trends by using this also.

    Keeping people engaged and motivated will always be a challenge and there are many tools/ideas on how to improve it, it all starts by caching people instead of policing.
