Hi all,
We are currently updating our Company Induction material and I need some advice on how to make the "HR and policy" and "History and Heritage" sessions a bit more fun?
We currently just talk people through slides, with a bit of an activity on "putting the year and milestone" together... but we need to bring this to life more successfully.
I work at Morrisons Head Office but this would need to cover all areas - Head Office, Manufacturing, Logistics, Retail... so would need to be simple, yet effective.
Any ideas welcomed, and thanks so much in advance.

Hello all, thanks so much for the responses.
R.e. stakeholders/SME's - as I work at Morrisons this can be quite a difficult task, particularly outside of Head Office where the Board would find it difficult to travel to sites/stores. In our working group we've agreed for the site/area manager to host the session where possible, but we were struggling around confirming this for definite.
As per your recommendations, we've designed a treasure-hunt style tour which has combined both the Facilities and HR/ER aspects around the building (i.e. signposting the essentials at each area). In live time it works really well, but unfortunately doesn't include the "people" aspect which I know would enhance it.
Our issue with videos is the "ever-changing" business, where people are constantly coming in and out so these get dated quickly. We're having a think around this one.
Our key focus needs to be on "the customer" so we're thinking of basing a session around the "Fish!" type video (let me know if you've not seen this, it's a great service video) but are currently flying ideas around on this...
Any more thoughts always welcome, but thank you so much for everything so far.
Hi, I've run four new start groups for new surveyors over the last 6 months or so and your question very much chimes with me, the standard material is the usual HR need to know stuff, along with a company timeline exercise which sounds identical to your milestone one. Plus the inevitable brand value exercises.
As Chris said I try to involve as many external stakeholders as possible, I also introduce relevant youtube videos to liven things up and try to break the group out of the room as often as possible to do things they need to do online early in the induction process.
It's also good to have a bit of background music and some props so you can hit the different VAKS styles.
Do you have people at your office who have been there along time if so you could do the tresure hunt principle where they go find out information and bring it back to the group.
