I came across this infographic today. It's a great visual explanation of different types of learning which really does speak my language.

Which one most represents your organisation? What type of learning do you tend to do the most of? Would you change this and why?

  • Putting myself back into my last organisation, I would say that there was a lot of push learning.  Mandatory stuff that just had to happen.  There was also performance support.  There was a stab at blended learning on a talent management programme but it didn't really work as people weren't particularly engaged and the e-learning platform (which was more of a resource bank) was dated and not particularly intuitive.

A true blended approach would always be my preference as it can appeal to most learning styles and enables theoretical and practical application in different environments. Building a learning network and being able to discuss and develop thinking in a safe environment is key, as is being able to reflect on that in your own time.
