We are an operational business based at around 60 sites across the UK plus a head office - each site has a small team of operators ranging from a manager, customer facing staff and maintenance/housekeeping. We need to provide more role-specific TRAINING (remember that word?!) whereas we have in recent times moved to more of a digital-first strategy. This worked during Covid, but the business wants more face to face training now.

Our current team is small - myself and a team of 3 for 600 staff made up of myself (L&D Manager), one e-learning designer, one management development trainer and a training associate who I am developing into an Operational trainer.

For those of you who work in a similar business - operational, multi-site - how is your L&D team structured?

Many thanks.

Unconscious Bias Training and Virtual team activitieshttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/learning-professionals/unconscious-bias-training-and-virtual-team-activities2021-02-09T14:56:55.000Z2021-02-09T14:56:55.000ZRichard Boothhttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/RichardBooth

Good afternoon all,

I've been asked to adapt an existing Unconscious Bias training pack that was previously delivered in the classroom into a virtual training session (probably via Teams).
The Good Practice podcast, a weekly show about work, performance and learning, is looking for someone in the early stages of an L&D career to talk about their experiences. It involves a 30-40 min relaxed chat with one of the hosts based on a few guiding questions. You can listen to The Good Practice podcast by following this link: https://podcast.goodpractice.com/ or searching for it wherever you get your podcasts.

It's a bit of a split where it is being utilised by half the business with designated line managers and accountability for their team, for the the other half who are part of Agile/tribe teams, the reporting lines are flexible and accountability for team performance isn't clear.

Here there are many inexperienced managers and tribe leaders, and a super manual performance management process. The business is quite set on keeping annual reviews annual so has been resistance to suggestions to move away from this. So far, we have implemented job descriptions, PDP's, got development and coaching programmes underway for tribe leaders/managers and are building a business case for systems to support performance management and enable more flexible learning. We also don't currently have competency frameworks in place so are looking to develop these with the teams and are doing some work with the business around the organisation structure.

Myself and the Head of Talent & Development have been doing lots of research into what other companies have been done (e.g Spotify, Gousto, Google etc) but be great if anyone's been through this themselves and has any tips or advice?

Thanks!
Lisa

Digital Skillshttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/learning-professionals/digital-skills2020-12-07T22:20:35.000Z2020-12-07T22:20:35.000ZMandy Bassetthttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/MandyBassett

Hi,

I've recently started a new role with a Housing Association.
