Held next year on 1st Feburary at The Dorchester Hotel in London, the event itself has been described by host Claudia Winkleman as being 'Better than Christmas!'

Closing date for applications to the awards is 29th September when your application will be reviewed by a panel of learning specialist judges. The awards brand new for the next awards include a Digital Learning Transformation Award which will be presented to an organisation that has transformed it's delivery, products or services by using digital learning tools. There's also a learning futures award for the organisation that can most demonstrate their use of new technologies such as AI, virtual reality or augmented reality. The third of the three new additions will be presented to an individual who has shown exceptional promise and made an impact with less than ten years in the L&D industry.

The new awards sit alongside the existing list of categories. Entry is free and open to anyone in learning, anywhere in the world. To be in with a chance of winning one of these coveted awards, you need to submit your entry by 29th September 2017.

Are you entering your team or any individuals for the Learning Awards or other industry awards this year? What do you think the challenges will be? Have you previously enterered? Perhaps you're already an award winner. What have you found, or do you expect to find, the benefits of winning an award are?

I'd love to hear from you.
Entry to the TJ Awards is completely free and straightforward - so there is no excuse not to enter and benchmark your best work against that of your peers. Debbie Carter, TJ’s editor in chief says: “We're looking for the brightest learning and development teams and people to tell us why they deserve to be recognised.

Take a look at our video from a couple of years ago on the Training Journal Awards and have a think about how you, your team and your organisation can benefit from scooping one of these sought after awards.

But don't take too long. The closing date for initial applications is just under four weeks away on 14th July.

Award winning L&D in 2018: What does it look like?https://community.dpgplc.co.uk/learning-professionals/award-winning-l-d-in-2018-what-does-it-look-like2015-12-04T14:17:37.000Z2015-12-04T14:17:37.000ZAdy Howeshttps://community.dpgplc.co.uk/members/AdyHowes

It was a pleasure to attend the Training Journal awards last week and I was lucky enough to be right in the thick of the story. My job was to capture the night in a digital way to produce a video that reflected what the evening was all about.

I got to talk to a whole lot of great people, each sharing their own story with me. Meeting the judges, I got to find out what it was like to judge an event and what great talent we have in the L&D field. I was able to speak with people who had entered awards and got to really understand the nerves they carried as they waited to find out if they'd won. They described what it would mean to win an award as well as how proud they already were for being in a position to even enter and be shortlisted.

It was all pretty inspirational really and it got me thinking of what L&D teams can learn from award winning programmes and initiatives.

But the question that really inspired me, was one the following day at Training Journal's brunch event. We were asked to consider what award winning L&D teams would be doing in the future. It's such a great question, I'd like to open it up here on the DPG Community:

So, here's the question: If you were an L&D awards judge in 2018, what new category would you like to judge and what would the criteria be?

I'd really love to hear your thoughts.

They'll be much more coming on the Community over the coming days about the awards, but for now, here's a look at the award winners in the various categories. Click the link below for more:

It's a great opportunity for us to get a discussion going about awards. Were you at TJ Awards? Were you an award winner? Is your team considering entering for any awards over the coming year? Let us know. We'd be interested to hear from you.

With awards season upon us - the Training Journal and Elearning Awards are on the same night next month - I thought it would be good to create a place where we can share our own successes.

Not only is it great to see and hear each other's achievements it also provides great learning and inspiration for others. It might also act as an award entry for next year! And I wouldn't mind betting a lot of L&D professionals help colleagues share their colleagues' successes but not their own.

So, share the successes you have had (however big or small you consider them to be). What are you most proud of doing?
