Hi all,

I am currently looking into Apprenticeship for our company. We are SME and don't pay apprenticeship levy at this moment so we'd be looking at co-investment apprenticeship. This is a very new topic for me, and I woudl appreciate any advice and hints you could give me - easy to read guide. I am looking into the usual places and indeed reading through all the requirements and policies published on gov website as such, but it woudl be great to get a real practice advice.

Essentially:

- can we use apprenticeship training schemes for our current staff or is this only for new recruits?

- Is there any limit as to how much money can we claim on apprenticeship in any one year accroos various bands? (for example if we were to participate in 5 various apprenticeship schemes for different areas of our business and claimed 95% back on the training for each - is there any limit as to how much can we claim in total)?

Many thanks for any tips.

  • Hello Liba,

You can use apprenticeship qualifications for new and existing staff. Check out the Institute of Apprenticeships website for full listings of all the apprenticeship qualifications.
Sorry I can't help with your second question as it's not something I have experience of as we are a levy paying business.

    Hope this helps,

    • Hi Martyn,

Thanks ever so much for your reply. I'm in touch with the Institute and getting a great advice. I'll update here when I know more, hopefully other people find it useful too.

      Thanks again for your comment.
