I’ve just read a post on creating resources not just courses to help people be better at their roles. At DPG we often create videos to support our learners and the wider L&D Community. This one that we created at last year’s World of Learning Conference and Exhibition was in response to many of our community members wanting to know more about Continuous Professional Development (CPD and how to approach it). You can see this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxoC6481WcU

The secret of that video is that it was all entirely filmed on a Smart Phone mounted on a tripod with a quality microphone put in. With most of us carrying a smart phone in our pocket these days, it’s so much easier to capture knowledge within our organisations.

Taking this footage back to the office, we edited this, cut together the various clips to tell a story, added some music and graphics and it was all ready to go. It’s been received very well.

So that leads me onto the question. What tools do you use to edit videos? Given that we’ve all got filming equipment available with our smartphones available at no cost, what tools do you know about that you can use to edit videos? Are any of them free?

Let us know in the comments below. I’m sure our community members would appreciate your advice.
