I came across a recent article about how we can learn from military leadership and how we can implement within the workplace.

My favourite piece of advice was 1. Make leadership everyone's business ... GENIUS! If we invested in leadership development early on, it will put everyone on the same page within the business.

I do like number 5 too, but I will let you read that one yourselves.

Please read the article here and let me know which is your favourite and which piece(s) of advice you will be implementing in your workplace.

  • Thanks Laura,

As an ex-military type, I would of course echo everything that the article says.  I particularly like the 'cut the crap' methodology - something that was very much utlised during my time, and I still bring to the boardroom table on occasion!

    • I couldn't agree more Steve, I think it is a methodology many managers would benefit from.

  • This is a great find Laura and some useful advice. Thanks for sharing.

Yes I like number 5 too - understanding the 'why' when you are given a task to do is key and also understanding how that links into the companies goals and strategy.  A regular review of tasks is definitely good practice.

Another favourite of mine is reward your people.  Sometimes all it takes is a simple 'thank you' to motivate people.

    Karen :)
