Hi Everyone. I ran this webinar 3 months ago. We've had lots of people join DPG programmes and progress to different stages in their programmes since then so I figured that I should repeat this session. Maybe you weren't in the Community last time I ran it, maybe it's more relevant to you now than it was then or maybe you attended last time and you want a refresher. If any of those situations ring true, or indeed you have another reason for attending, then you are invited!
I'm planning to keep it to 30 minutes this time. We'll go for a punchy quick pace to make an impact - and leave you more time for your lunch plans (more importantly).
Here's the explanation I wrote in the build-up to the first time I ran this session:
We've had a few requests in the Community where people would like to know how to build reference lists and bibliographies manually. This could be something that you are interested in if you haven't got access to the tool in Microsoft WORD that does this automatically for you or if you just want to learn how to do it.
Bring along some sources, maybe a book or website, and we'll work through some examples on screen.
This won't be a polished PowerPoint driven session - for the most part, it will be me sharing a blank document on screen and working through examples live and off the cuff - it'll be like live TV (warts and all)!
Anyone from any programme (and even if you aren't studying a DPG unit) is welcome. I'll see you then.

Wait, let me finish this with an unnecessary gif:

Did you know your local CIPD branch will put on relevant events that are free to CIPD members.
Take a look for your local branch here and what events are happening. Remember attending these events are great CPD evidence.

Thanks Gary!
The anons have mostly been articles etc without a published author but I make sure the URLs are included for assessors to trace them.
I tried previous versions but only showed 1 from the day before but they were also missing. I'd emailed a few previous versions to myself so hopefully i'll find some on those to fill in some of the gaps!
Thanks again!
Ah ok, I never spotted that for this one! Oops!
I've submitted now but for any anons I just manually typed the corporate author so it showed the source. I hope that won't be a reason for a fail?!
The article appears to be by one Nikki Sutton. Have you tried using that as the author? That would be my first thought.
😊
Hi Gary,
I put in Morning Advertiser as corporate author but it still displayed as '(Anon, 2016)' in text and as below in reference list and bib...
'Anon., 2016. Morning Advertiser. [Online]
Available at: https://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2016/11/01/Millennials-...'
So I have lots of Anons appearing throughout. Should it be displaying as (Morning Advertiser, 2016)?
I manually went back through and 'fixed' the unlinked references last night, took 2 hours. Went to do final amends, review and submit today and the references have gone again. I don't think i'll use word referencing again, i've spent more time trying to sort that than writing the actual assignment and focusing on content.
So later I will sort out referencing again along with amending the anons according to your response with advice and then I guess i'll have to just submit it as it is as if I go off it it won't save the references as it should.

Can you share a link to one of the sources and I'll see if I can come up with a reference for it?
I have been clicking corporate author and inputting bbc etc for example but it still displays in text as anon. Should it not display like that when you put corporate author?
Fingers crossed for you!
If you can't find an author's name, could you select Corporate author on the referencing tool? I'm just thinking of ways to help.
😊
