Breakfast briefings - they work!

I mentioned in recent discussion about establishing a local network by going along to an event near you. I attended an ACAS employment law update that I found really useful.

Well, happy to report that I can now go one better as networking opportunities go..  I was contacted via my membership with the local CIPD branch on LinkedIn and invited to an HR breakfast briefing with a local LLP firm. Never one to turn down a free meal, I duly accepted - as you do!

I fully expected a hard sell approach from the briefing team. Not a bit of it. They were very welcoming, gave an excellent discussion/briefing on capability and absence management topics - and we all had a simply amazing breakfast in a fabulous location overlooking Bournemouth bay.  I got a huge amount from the day, with some excellent new contacts all willing to offer help and advice on pretty much any HRM subject.

In a way, not going for the hard sell approach has worked well for them. If I ever do decide to opt for a change of employment law advisor I know exactly which team I will be contacting first!

My only regret? Not going for the Full English!  Though the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was pretty good I have to say!
