DPG on the Road

DPG on the Road

We are excited to announce our trip to Paris next week to attend “World Association of Nuclear Operators” (WANO) Conference.

As part of WANO’s mission to achieve the highest standards of safety and reliability, Kevin Faulkner will be running sessions on maximising employee engagement using development coaching, effective presentation and the skills of facilitation.

Each DPG workshop will be learner centric, will role model appropriate behaviours, whilst also aligning with the principles and values of the Organisation.

In a recent interview with Kevin, he said “he was very excited by the prospect of working with a global audience and the fantastic opportunity to contribute to the aspirations of the organisation in achieving the highest possible standards of nuclear safety.”

  • Hi Alison,

Good to know my thoughts work for you. Absolutely, if you think I can be of help in the future, do not hesitate to get in touch

    Kevin

  • Thankyou for the reply Kevin. Your sessions were clearly well thought through, and consequently well delivered and received, well done.
The preparation advice you offer is excellent. I know who to touch base with if ever I am asked to deliver anything abroad :)
  • Hi Alison,

Thank you. The conference went really well and my sessions were well received.

Representatives were in attendance from over 15 countries. My preparation was key here, collaborating with the client to identify key outcomes and critical success factors. To ensure inclusivity the QA of resources prior to the day was crucial to ensure everything was clear, free from jargon and was easily translated into alternative  language.

As the sessions were predominantly delivered in English, Also important was that I took time to examine my delivery style, pace, pitch of my voice and language/non verbals. Also that case studies/examples were meaningful.

On the day a short contracting exercise was carried out to manage expectations and to offer the opportunity for a 1:1. ( a perk of being residential) This meant I could continue dialogue on a more personal footing and therefore tailor my interventions to the needs of the individual.

Evaluations rec'd confirm things worked, so much so I have already been invited back to do more.

Lessons learnt here: Do your research. Consider the cultural make up of your audience identifying differing learning cultures, and from a coaching perspective, on the day, be "In The Moment".

Hope you finds this information useful.

    Kevin

  • Hope the conference workshops went well Claire.

I wonder what cultural aspects Kevin had to consider when running his workshops.

Do you know how many different nationalities attended the conference?

  • Great to see DPG flying the international flag Claire :)
